April Opportunities for Artists and Writers

Beestung Special issueTRANS IS THE FUTURE. THE FUTURE IS TRANS.: “For this special issue of beestung, we’re seeking works by nonbinary and two-spirit writers that cross not only gender but also genre and form. We want your barely-legible; your not-fiction, not-poetry, and definitely-not-binary words. We want speculative work that can only do what it does outside and against the bounds of traditional “poetry” and “fiction,” informed and delivered by people outside the bounds of binary gender.” $20 honorarium. Deadline: July 5. No fee.

Brew & Forge Witches & Warriors Retreat: “Our inaugural retreat is a space for BIPOC poets and movement workers. Six poets and six activists will be invited to rest, dream, scheme, share skills, and build relationships on a 73-acre farm in upstate New York. Bringing together the radical creativity of poets with the audacity and expertise of activists, Witches & Warriors will create space for participants to envision together a more liberated future. Activities will include workshops, discussions, writing sessions with faculty mentors, rest and play time, and a public reading/celebration. The retreat will take place at the Watershed Center in Millerton, New York (Munsee Lenape and Mohican Land). This year, we are pleased to welcome Cynthia Dewi Oka and Alexis Pauline Gumbs as faculty.” Deadline: April 30. No fee.
