March Opportunities for Artists and Writers

2022 Open Mouth Retreat: “an entire weekend full of community-building, generative writing workshops, and conversations between faculty members and small groups of participants. The Retreat fosters a welcoming space for poets to dive deeper into writing and generate new, challenging work … with faculty Alison C. Rollins and Paul Tran, hosted virtually June 10-12.”

“The cost of the retreat is $350. We will offer one full scholarship to a woman-identifying or non-binary poet of color, one full scholarship to a Latinx poet, one full scholarship to a trans or non-binary Black poet, one full scholarship to a disabled poet, and a limited number of need-based scholarships.” Application deadline: March 25.

Glass Poetry Chapbook Series: “Glass Poetry Press seeks to publish four to six chapbooks per year. We do not charge reading fees and we do not hold contests. Each chapbook is selected during our open reading period or, occasionally, through solicitations.” No Fee. Deadline: March 31.

Pidgeonholes: “Fearless fiction, nonfiction, poetry and artwork. Literary, speculative, experimental, or absurdly unclassifiable, just make it bold and beautifully written.” No Fee. Submissions Open April 1-15.

Rigorous: “an online journal highlighting the works of authors, artists, critics, and educators of color. We take our name from an accusation commonly leveled at authors of color—that our works are not as rigorous as works created by white authors. We add our voices; we continue to prove otherwise.” No Fee. Deadline: April 5.
