Cave Canem Toi Derricotte & Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize: “Launched in 2015, the annual Toi Derricotte & Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize is dedicated to the discovery of exceptional chapbook-length manuscripts by Black poets, and is presented in collaboration with the O, Miami Poetry Festival, Jai-Alai Books, and The Betsy – South Beach. Award: Winner receives $1000, publication by Jai-Alai Books in spring 2022, 10 copies of the chapbook, a residency at The Writer’s Room at The Betsy Hotel in Miami and a featured virtual reading at the O, Miami Poetry Festival.” No fee. September 15 deadline.

Kundiman Online Classes: “Since 2004, Kundiman has offered spaces for creating art, sustaining connection, and building solidarity. This year, we are thrilled to offer new ways for writers of color to connect virtually, with a new slate of online classes … Classes are open to either Asian American writers or all writers of color; please check the class details before registering. All online classes will take place on Zoom and class times listed are in Eastern Time. Scholarships are available. CLASS TUITION: $495 for an 8-week workshop, $50 for a 3-hour craft class.”

Okay Donkey: “At OKD Magazine, we like to read the odd, the off-kilter, and the just plain weird. We like things that are funny, things that are sad, and things that are funny and sad at the same time. We especially love to read the experimental, the surreal, and the genre-bending … We publish one new poem every Monday and one new flash fiction every Friday. Please send us either one poem OR one flash fiction per author per submission period.” No fee. Submissions open 1st-15th of every month.
