two unnamed twins by Quinn Huang

I was never meant to carry these twins with me. They sprung up on me, latching onto me like a
pair of weights I couldn’t stop lifting. Baggy clothes and sweaters three sizes up used to conceal
them, but I’m well into the stages where there’s no hiding them anymore. Now that they’re
showing, people are beginning to form an opinion—and expectation—of me. If I kept them, I
would be under scrutiny; if I eject them from my body, people would hate me. Either way, with
these twins with me, I’ll never win.

Quinn Huang (they/them) writes stories as a love letter to their intersecting Chinese and queer cultures. They’re still in their California era despite relocating back to their hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia, where they’re planning their next big adventure—albeit fictional ones. When they’re not writing, they can be found at a coffee shop somewhere chugging down a large iced coffee that makes them walk twice as fast as everyone else. Their work has been previously published in BLEACH! MagazineHaluHalo Journal, and Coffee Ring Review.
