Aphrodite Says Yes To Me by Artemis Adams

after Kaylin Haught

I asked God if it was okay to like other girls
and he said absolutely not
I asked Aphrodite if it was okay to like other girls and she said of course
I asked God if it was okay that I take a break
from going to church
and he said never
I asked Aphrodite if it was okay that I take a break from giving up offerings
and she said, sweetie
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do
whatever you’d like
Thanks, Aphrodite, I said
And is it even okay if I don’t always celebrate
your holidays
My dear Aphrodite said
Why could you not?
But is it even okay if I worship more gods than just you But of course, she told me
And will you even answer all my prayers
Darling Aphrodite said
who knows where she picked that up
what I’m telling you is
Yes Yes Yes

Artemis Adams (fae/they) is a new writer studying to earn their bachelors degree in English: Writing, Editing, and Publishing at the University of Northern Colorado.

Artemis has been creating stories since elementary school when they created stories in their head to distract themselves during class. This love for storytelling deepened in middle school when Artemis started to read more and began to write their stories down for the first time.

Artemis strives to create poetry and works of fiction that make others like them feel more included and represented in literature. They hope to have a published fantasy book after they graduate and can officially begin their career.
